Snow Day!

winter tree Today is a snow day, and very welcome one I might add. If you don’t live in area where you get snow, that’s too bad, because EVERYONE needs at least one snow day for at least a few days a year. There are so many reasons to be excited about a snow day because first, the snow is GORGEOUS! Big, fluffy flakes, falling down and making even ugly traffic look serene and calm. The trees and grass are beautiful…like God himself is reaching down and touching us with every flake; how cool is that!

The second reason that everyone needs a good snow day is because snow days provide an EXCELLENT reason to stay in the house, cancel (I mean re-schedule) appointments, and catch up on myself. I can read some of my favorite magazines that I have been too busy to read, catch up on work that I haven’t been able to do (like write for this blog,) and even do a little – heaven forbid – cleaning in my house and office. It is also a great reason to bake something. Baking helps to heat up the kitchen and it also gives us a chance to do some outdoor exercise as I shovel my loooooong driveway and sidewalk. I am fortunate to live within walking distance of grocery store, movie theater and shops so I may trot over later and take in a flick, too!

Yes, everyone does deserve a snow day – at least a few days a year. It is so easy to get wound into life, it is cool to have a day where we are expected to stay home, stay warm and just be. For those of you who have had a snow day recently, what did you do?
