The Secret to Successful Goal Setting

August 21, 2008 · Written by Heather Juma

Want to know the secret behind successful goal setting?  Passion!

Think about it.  How inspired are you to achieve a goal if you’re not passionate about it?  Are you going to have the “whatever it takes” attitude if you don’t have passion?

Probably not.  And that is why most people fail to achieve their goals, because there is no passion behind them.  Think about the athletes in the Olympics, how could these
remarkable individuals achieve their goals and dreams if they were not fueled by passion?  They wouldn’t be able to endure the years of hard work, sacrifice and training if they weren’t
passionate would they?  It seems that we see the most passionate individuals in the word of sports and entertainment.

This is one of the reasons I encourage women to start businesses that they are passionate about, because you will have challenges and obstacles that may seem insurmountable along
the way, if you’re fueled by passion you will stay the course and you won’t quit when the going gets tough.

Sure you want to make alot of money and become a Millionaire Diva, but you also want to do something each day that makes you happy and gives your life purpose.  This is living
a life of passion and prosperity, and the two do go hand in hand.  Let me ask you: What do you love to do?  What are you good at?  What do you think you were born to do?  Take
some time to think about these questions and you’ll find your passion and purpose in life.  Then brainstorm a little bit and you’ll be able to figure out a way to develop your passion into
a business.

My purpose statement for my life is: To inspire, educate and empower women to create a life of passion and prosperity.

Now it’s your turn, what is your purpose statement.  Write it down and use it to fuel your goals.  If your business is based upon your passion how could you possibly fail?  You won’t.

Each and every one of you has a special “gift” to share with the world and usually you can discover your “gift” by exploring your passion.  Explore your passion, define your purpose and
then take steps every single day to achieve your goals and soon you will be living your dream life … a life of passion and prosperity.

If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy, and inspires your hopes- Andrew Carnegie

How Expensive is Your Fear?

August 15, 2008 · Written by Heather Juma

girlandmoney.jpg How much money have you lost because of your fears?  Think back over the last five years, what would you have done differently if you hadn’t been afraid?  What opportunities did you allow to pass you by because of your fears?  How much money could you have made if you didn’t miss those opportunities because you were afraid?  How much has your fear cost you in real dollars lost for the past five years?  I want you to think of a real number, figure it out, how much has your fear cost you?

Here are a few examples.  If you had started a business five years ago how much money would you have made?  If you had saved a dollar a day and invested it in mutual funds how much money would you have made?  If you had invested in real estate how much money would you have made?  As you can see fear is a very expensive habit.

So what’s going to be different about the next five years?  Are you going to continue to allow fear to hold you back, are you going to allow fear to control your life and your hopes for financial freedom?  What are you afraid of anyhow?  You’re afraid of what other people will think about you right?  Well the sad truth of the matter is … other people don’t really care about you … they are just like you, they’re more concerned about what other people are thinking about them.

So being the fabulous Diva that we all know you are, time to get working on your mindset.  You need to develop the Millionaire Mindset, the unstoppable mindset, the mindset that will enable you to get past your fears and go out and do whatever it takes to live the life of your dreams.  Think how much richer you’re going to be when you drop your expensive habit called: FEAR!

Are You Committed to Your Success?

August 3, 2008 · Written by Heather Juma

girl-with-pen-in-mouth.jpg Are you truly committed to your success?  If you’re like most women, your response is “Yes, of course I am, why would you ask me that question?”.  But let’s be honest here, are you truly committed?  Are you willing to do whatever it takes to be successful or are you just going to try and when challenges and obstacles show up you’re going to quit because … and you’ll think of a really good logical reason to justify quitting.

What price are you willing to pay for success?  There is always a price, are you willing to pay it?  I’ve started businesses with no capital so what did I do?  Did I say I can’t start my business because I don’t have money?  No, I sold my furniture, clothes and jewelry and downsized my life so that I could afford to pursue my dream.  Loral Langemeier known as the “Millionaire Maker” built her company from zero to $13 million in five years.  She started her company by selling everything she owned except her car and slept on friend’s sofas for the first year. There are lots of people out there that are successful now that have done what Loral and I have done.  So let me ask you again, are you willing to pay the price?

Are you willing to believe in yourself when there is no evidence that you will be successful?  Or are you going to listen to your friends and family when they tell you that you “can’t do it”?  Believing in yourself is an attitude, it’s a choice YOU make.  If you don’t believe in yourself … is anyone else going to?  I don’t have a formal business education and no one believed in me when I started any of my businesses, but that did not deter me from starting and building several six and seven figure income businesses.  Are you ready to change your beliefs about yourself and realize that your limiting beliefs are a lie?  “You have to believe in yourself when no one else does, that is what makes you a winner.”-Venus Williams

Are you ready to take 100% responsibility for your life?  This is a tough one because now you have to accept that you’re responsible for creating everything in your life.  So if your life is a mess, it’s your mess, no one else’s!  This is big wake up call ladies, we no longer get to blame others for our lack of success.  It’s not your parent’s fault, your husband’s fault, your ex-husband’s fault, you created everything in your life just as it is now. The good news is, you can create a new life if you chose to.

Are you willing to do whatever it takes when you have challenges or obstacles in your life?  This is part of the game of life ladies, everyone has struggles, this is nature’s way of making sure we deserve the good in our lives!  This is how we grow and become the person that we need to be.  Think of so called failures as your stepping stones to success.  You need to learn to deal with rejection, are you willing to reject rejection and understand that rejection is a myth not an excuse.  You’ll also need to tame the tiger called “fear”.  Are you willing to do the work necessary to overcome your fears and limiting beliefs?

These are just a few of the questions you’ll need to ask yourself before you make the decision to go after a goal.  You must learn not to take your goals lightly and make a strong commitment to each and every goal you set.  If you’re not willing to face fear, rejection, failure and sometimes humiliation, then perhaps it’s not the right goal for you.  But if you’re truly committed and willing to do whatever it takes to reach your goal, then you have the power to create the life and business of your dreams!

You must take personal responsibility.  You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons or the wind, but you can change yourself. - Jim Rohn

Ten Tips for Success

April 8, 2008 · Written by Heather Juma

Only focus on the things that YOU can control, not on what you can’t control

Keep yourself on track, don’t think about your competitors.  Highly successful people create, they do NOT compete.

Work on getting past your fear.  This is dream killer #1!  Do what you are afraid to do and the fear will disappear.

NEVER give up!  Push on and persevere, success usually comes at the same time you want to quit.

Take MASSIVE ACTION everyday!  Keep a journal of how much time you are really working, you’ll be shocked.

Get out of your comfort zone, take risks and stretch yourself to do something that you find scary.

Write a list of your goals DAILY, know “why” you want something.  Every goal has to have a reason.

Visualize your goals every morning, in the afternoon and before you go to sleep.

Have laser beam focus.  Your mind can hold only one thought at a time.  Do not multi-task.

Break your goals down into daily, weekly, monthly achievable steps reaching your short term goals on your way to your long term goals.

Create The Life You Deserve!

January 21, 2008 · Written by Heather Juma

cocktail-party.jpg Each and every once of us have so much in life to be thankful for; however, some people simply complain about what they don’t have. I find myself asking a simple question quite frequently–What are you doing to make the effort to go out and get what you really want?

And do you know what I most often hear? Excuses! That’s right, it is easier to sit around and complain than to actually make the effort to go out and create the life you really want. The silliest thing to believe is that you can keep doing the same thing repeatedly and get different results.

But isn’t that what you do? Let’s be honest, that is exactly what most people do and that is why they are unhappy with where their lives are. We must always remember that life is not a spectator sport! Your life is to be lived fully and passionately. So if you’re not jumping out of bed each morning excited about what adventure the day will bring, perhaps you need to strive for more in your life.

Believe it or not, but you are fully capable of creating the life you dream of; the live you deserve. Everything you want in life can be yours and it all starts with a dream. So what is your new life going to be like? Remember, dream BIG! When you’ve got your dreams, all you need to do is simply work towards them and accomplish what you want with determination and a positive mindset.

So dream about the life you want, the life you truly see yourself living; but instead of just dreaming about it any longer, go out and make it happen!

Who’s Going To Stop You From Being a Successful Woman Entrepreneur?

January 20, 2008 · Written by Heather Juma

successful business woman If you read my post about Debbi Fields Rose, founder of Mrs. Field’s Cookies, you’ll see she didn’t listen to anyone that told her “no”. Everyone told her it was a bad idea to start a cookie company (with their mouths full of her cookies!)

So who’s stopping you? Are the voices in your head telling you you’re not smart enough, good enough, “whatever” enough? Are you friends and family acting as the “dream-stealers” in your life? Who are you going to let stop you from living the life you secretly desire? Why would you listen to anyone, including those crazy voices in your head … they’re all wrong.

In my own life I’ve listened to the dream-stealers and the inner voices in my head and I’ve missed so many great opportunities, I felt great pain and remorse as I looked back and saw all that I had lost. That pain helped me to develop my present company, Girls Who Network. As I developed the seminar program, Girls Who Network Grow Rich, I found that many women dream of starting businesses and very, very few of them actually have someone that believes in them. So I developed a program that supports the dreamer in women entrepreneurs and helps the dreamers get together and get those businesses started in only 28 days!

So if you have a dream, please don’t give up…ever! And if you need someone to believe in you, just drop me a line, I’ve been there I know what it feels like. We all need someone to believe in us … so who’s the woman in your life who needs you to believe in her and her dreams? There’s another aspiring women entrepreneur out there who needs your support, when you meet her reach out and give her a hand.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

January 20, 2008 · Written by Heather Juma

big-mansion-with-swimming-pool.jpg I love to ask the question “Who wants to be a millionaire?”, everyone gets so excited! Want to get a crowd of people sitting on the edge of their seats listening to every single word you say? Tell them you’ll share the secrets to becoming a millionaire!

Then just for fun, I ask the following question; “Who wants to work 60-80 hours each week, have all their friends and family telling them that they’re crazy, “it’ll never work”, no money or time for vacations, work through the weekends, pinch pennies till it hurts and feel really lonely most of the time because no one else believes in you or your dream?”. Funny thing about that question, no one says they want that kind of life. But guess what, that’s how most millionaires start off.

I know there are lots of people out there talking about how easy it is to become a millionaire, that there’s no struggle involved. Okay, if it’s that easy and there’s no struggle involved why isn’t everyone a millionaire then? I’ll let you in on a big secret … it isn’t easy!

Now remember I said it wasn’t easy, I didn’t say you couldn’t do it. The question is are you willing to make the commitment and do whatever it takes to create the life of your dreams or are you going to settle for mediocrity? Do you want spend the rest of your life, thinking I shoulda, coulda, woulda?

Now I’m not an authority on this, but I think we only go through this great big, incredible adventure called life …once. So why not make your life the best life you could ever possibly imagine! All those well-meaning people around you telling you what a failure you’ll be, those are their insecurities talking, it has nothing to do with you and what you’re capable of. Besides it’s your life not theirs, why would you live your life based on what they want you to do?

Do you want to come to the end of your life and realize that you were living someone else’s dream and not yours? I’m not saying everyone wants to be a millionaire or should be a millionaire. But I do think everyone has a dream for their life, so whatever your dream don’t you owe it to yourself to go out and live it?

Who cares if your dream seems wild and crazy, if it’s what you want and you’re willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen, think about the wild ride you’ll have along the way. Sure you’ll get scared, you’ll doubt yourself and the sacrifices may be many. But what an incredible, happy life you’ll live! And isn’t that what life is truly about … being happy? So what’s your dream? Who wants to be a millionaire?

Is Your Computer Making You Fat?

January 20, 2008 · Written by Heather Juma

woman-eating-at-computer.jpg Is your computer making you fat? How many hours a day are you spending sitting around surfin’ the Net, writing your blogs, working on your business? Your wrist gets it’s workout clickin’ away on your mouse and while it’s important to have thin wrists so your watch and bracelets look nice, what about the rest of your body?

Lots of women working from home are facing this problem. You get so involved in the work you’re doing on the computer that time flies by, you’ve spent hours sitting in front of the computer, usually snacking and the next thing you know, you’ve put on a few pounds.

I used to have this problem myself, just like I had the problem with checking emails as they came through, tying up all my time and getting off track. As a successful woman entrepreneur you have to manage your time. So what did I do? I put myself on a schedule, I write out all my daily activities on my white board and then I schedule a time next to each activity. This helps me stay on track and get things done.

I also include break times in my schedule, I go outside and take a quick walk around the neighborhood for about 15 minutes, I come back recharged and ready to go. I also put my daily exercise time on the white board, for me it works best if I do it before I start the day, because then I don’t get involved in work and not get it done.

Working at home is great, it gives you freedom and flexibility, but if you don’t manage your time you won’t be productive and you might even gain a few unwanted pounds. So take the time to take good care of yourself, exercise, take breaks and stay away from those snacks, then your computer won’t make you fat!

Life Can Be Risky!

skydiverthumbnail.jpg Risks

  • To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
  • To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
  • To reach out for another is to risk involvement.
  • To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self.
  • To place your ideas, your dreams, before a crowd is to risk their loss.
  • To love is to risk not being loved in return.
  • To live is to risk dying.
  • To hope is to risk despair.
  • To try is to risk failure.
  • But risks must be taken, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
  • The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, and is nothing.
  • They may avoid suffering and sorrow; but they cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, live.
  • Chained by their attitudes, they are a slave, they have forfeited their freedom.
  • Only a person who risks is free.
