Blog Your Way to Millions

You can blog your way to millions!

Let me share with you a blog-to-riches story.  Have you ever heard of Mario Lavandeira?  Probably not.  Have you ever heard of Perez Hilton?  That’s Mario’s multi-million dollar alter-ego.  In a matter of a three short years, Mario has gone from shy, unknown to “super diva” aka Perez Hilton.  And just how did he do it?  Blogging.

Mario became a power player in the entertainment industry when he moved from New York to LA with dreams of becoming an actor.  So broke that he couldn’t even pay for internet access, he hung out at coffee shops and hooked into their Wi-Fi.  He started reading online blogs and thought about starting his own personal blog but thought his life was too boring.  So he began torturing the rich and famous with his celebrity bashing blog that he named: PerezHilton.com.

Mario has been such a success that not only does his blog generate $54,000 PER DAY in advertising revenue, he is working with Warner Music to develop his own boutique record label, he has had TV specials, he has a syndicated radio show with ABC Radio, will be authoring a book for release in 2009 and has recently launched a clothing and accessories line with Hot Topic clothing (for girls).

He has developed a following of 8 million devoted fans!  This is the power of a blog.  So how can you become a millionaire blogger?  Think about Mario… if he did it, so can you.

Be the Expert, Build a Million Dollar Empire

August 15, 2008 · Written by Heather Juma

fame.jpg  Becoming the recognized expert in your field has less to do with your expertise and more about your ability to market yourself.  How many brilliant experts have you met in a particular field that are relatively unknown and definitely not rich?  They are not known as the leading expert in their market.

The leading expert in their market is probably not the most experienced or most knowledgeable person in that field.  But the leading expert knew how to create their expert status through the efforts of good marketing.

Imagine what it would be like to be the leading expert in your field,  selling your expertise to clients all over the world.  You could package your expertise and knowledge in the form of books, audios, teleseminars, online courses, coaching programs, you have a wide variety of choices.  Packaging and marketing your expertise in this manner will take you to Leading Expert status faster than any other way.

Creating information products will also provide you incredible income, many “experts” are developing multi-million dollar empires using this strategy.  And you have the opportunity to share your expertise with many more people than you could using the typical “dollars for hours” consulting business model.  And your expertise doesn’t have to be your current profession or vocation, people will pay for your expertise in personal development, hobbies, anything where you can provide a solution to their perceived problem.

So time to start thinking.  What expertise or knowledge can you use to create your empire.  Every woman has some expertise that can be packaged and marketed this way and become known as the expert in her field.  Make a list, include everything that you have done professionally.  What are your hobbies?  What are you passionate about?  What “life” experiences have you gone through?  What do your friends and family come to you for advice about?  These are all clues as to what expertise and knowledge you can use to establish yourself as the expert in your market.

Once you’ve decided your expertise and the identity you want to present to the marketplace you can begin to develop your products and programs.  You’ll then implement the marketing strategies that will position you as the expert in your field.  With a little guidance and following proven marketing systems, step-by-step you can build your own Million Dollar Expert Empire.

Network Your Way To Six-Figure Success

by Heather Juma

If you’re like most women you don’t like the thought of going to a networking event.  Do you realize that networking is one of the most effective and least expensive ways to build your business?
And when done properly networking can actually be fun.  If you follow the tips below, soon you’ll be networking with grace and ease, and you’ll be a “natural” networker.

1.) It’s not about you!  Yes, everyone else at the event is probably nervous and shy too.  So you’ll want to take the lead and start introducing yourself to others and then start introducing people that you’ve just met to the people you just met prior to them.  Everyone will view you as a leader in the group.

2.) It is about everyone else. Studies have shown that people rate the highest in popularity by others when they spend very little time talking about themselves and spend the majority of the time asking others questions and listening to them talk about themselves.  So spend most of your time listening instead of talking … that takes some of the pressure off doesn’t it?

3.) Be an actress.  People are attracted to other people with high energy, everyone will be attracted to you if you have a warm and friendly manner, a nice smile and lots of enthusiasm.

4.) Have good manners.  Always follow up the next day.  If you’re using email, send a note with an article of interest or a referrral.  And whenever you see something that might be of interest to them, send it to them.  This will help keep you “fresh” in their mind and establish you as a great resource.  Make the effort to”reconnect” once a month in a friendly, “just keeping in touch” sort of way.

5.) Be of service.  Always ask what you can do to assist them and then if possible help them out and if you can’t help them perhaps you know someone that can, give them a referral.

If you attend networking events regularly (consistency is key) and you follow the tips provided above you will stand out in the networking crowd.  Networking should not be an afterthought, networking should be a strategy that is part of your marketing and PR campaign, so make sure to put those networking dates on your marketing calendar… and take plenty of business cards.

Build a Team And Get Rich

August 3, 2008 · Written by Heather Juma

laptopwomen.jpg Everyone has twenty-four hours a day no matter what.  So how do wealthy, successful people maximize their time and get rich in the process?  They surround themselves with a team.

As women we have a tendency to think that we have to do everything.  But is that really the case?  Let’s see here…

Do you have to clean your own house in order for it to be as clean as you like it?

Do you have to learn to setup Quickbooks and do your own bookkeeping if you’re going to have a business?

Do you need to spend time learning to build your own website if you’re not going to be a website designer?

Do you need to learn everything about the internet if you’re going to have a website?

This are all myths in your head, these are beliefs that you have that probably aren’t true.

What if you hired someone to clean your house and that freed up four hours a week for you?   What if you hired a bookkeeper to set up your accounts and she took care of all your bookkeeping two hours every other week, how much time would that save you?  More than fours hours a month I’m sure.  Hiring those two team members could easily save you six-eight hours of time every week, that’s an entire work day every week!
How much time would you save if you hired someone to build your website and update it?  That alone would save your hours of  time and frustration.  Have you heard that saying “time is money?”, well it’s true.  Time is one of your most precious resources.  Have you ever thought about how your business would grow if you spent your time focused on the activities that you can do better than anyone else?  How many more hours a week would you have to develop projects or market to customers if you built a support team?  Your support team doesn’t need to just be in your business, your support team needs to support your life too, especially if you’re a mother with children.
So take the time and look at how you’re really spending your time.  Are you spending your time generating income or managing your business and your life?  How much income do you make as a manager?  This is the key to getting rich by managing your time and building a team.

Seven Simple Steps To Start Your PR Campaign

August 3, 2008 · Written by Heather Juma

it-girl.jpg
Entrepreneurs know that no matter how wonderful your product or service is, the key to success is getting the word out.  Most entrepreneurs mistakenly overlook PR because they don’t think their company is “big enough” or “successful enough”.  PR is a credible way to increase your profits and should be part of your business plan from Day One.
Here are 7 simple steps you can use to start your PR campaign today .

1.) Create a 4-5 sentence announcement and send one out every 45-60 days.  Send it to your local Business Journal and the largest local newspaper in your area.  Send announcements out to any organizations, associations or alumni groups you belong to.  Start today.

2.) Create a press kit, post an online press kit for download on your website or blog.  Send your Press kit including a “pitch” letter out to the appropriate media contacts.

3.) Participate in online discussion groups, make sure to craft a signature file promoting a free offer on your web site, always make sure to include your web site url.

4.) Establish yourself as an Expert.  Develop relationships with the media people in your industry and offer to be a source or resource for them.

5.) Network with your local community society editor and see if they will give you the details on upcoming events that might provide you an opportunity to network.  Offer to donate your product or service      in exchange for being able to attend and network.  You can also do a “charity tie-in” where you provide your product or service to a charity in return for free advertising or recognition as a sponsor.

6.) Write articles.  Submit your articles online or to the op-ed sections of newspapers and magazines.  You can offer to write a regular column for your local daily or weekly newspaper.

7.) Contact media leads that are looking specifically for your expertise.  As a member of our Millionaire Diva Mastermind we provide you with 100+ fresh new media leads daily.  These are professionals in the media that are looking for information and experts, they are asking for you to contact them and they tell you exactly what information they need.

When you’re getting started the PR process may seem overwhelming to you, the key is to take the first step and get started, be consistent and you’ll build momentum, credibility and visibility.

Increase Your Opt In Rates

April 8, 2008 · Written by Heather Juma

This is a simple strategy to increase your opt ins rates on your website.  Put your opt in box in your sales copy.  Make sure the “offer” that you make is relevant to what you are selling and will give the reader an “instant” solution to their “problem”.  The trick is to craft the opt in offer so that it is irresistible to the reader by the time they get to the offer in your copy.  You can offer your “general” freebie in the right upper hand corner of all of your website pages and add the opt in box in the copy to promote a very specific offering relevant to whatever you are selling in your salescopy.  This gives you another opportunity to capture names and email addresses. Now go get ‘em!

Marketing Is NOT Selling!

January 21, 2008 · Written by Heather Juma

super_20teacher.jpg  Most people equate marketing with the dreaded “S” word–Selling. Successful marketers know that marketing is not selling, marketing is about education.

What? Education? What does education have to do with selling you ask? Everything. Your position as a successful marketer is that you will educate as many people as possible about your service or product. When you come from a point of service, a point of educating consumers, all the dynamics change.

This is why it is so important to have systems in place to help you educate your prospects. For instance in my business Girls Who Network, we have several educational systems in place. We have the blog, which you’re reading, that provides a lot of useful information for our prospects. We have monthly newsletters that provides useful information, we have a free weekly call called Girl Power Hour that provides useful information and we offer strategy session that provide education as well.

Girls Who Network
comes from a point of serving and educating the community, this way interested prospects have the opportunity to contact us and see if they want what we have to offer. By educating them we have broken down the traditional “I don’t want to be sold” barriers.

So think about your business. Rather than “selling” your prospects, how can you “educate” your prospects. Hey “teacher” try this and watch your sales soar!

The Queen of Streams!

January 20, 2008 · Written by Heather Juma

stewart.jpg Love her or hate her, Martha Stewart is one smart business woman! Many people talk about building multiple streams of income, (including moi), want to see the best example … let’s look at Martha’s business.

Television shows, satellite radio, syndicated news columns, appearances on the Today show, magazines, catalog business and floral business. Being smart and savvy she knows the power of joint ventures and has licensing deals for furniture with Bernhardt, food with Costco, wine with Gallo, homes with KB Homes, paint products with Sears and Lowes, paper craft products with Michael’s and home accessories with KMart and Macy’s!

Now I know most of you don’t aspire to rule the world like Martha does, but you need to learn the concept. I call it “slice and dice”, it’s easier to build a six-figure income with lots of “mini businesses” under the brand of your primary business.

So you want $10k a month in revenues, is it easier to have four “mini businesses” do $2500/month in sales or struggle to have one business do $10k in sales? Look at your own business and decide how you can implement this powerful strategy.

So my hat goes off to Martha Stewart the “Queen of Streams.”
